Dan Graver
Service Development Manager
My passion for mental health care is deeply rooted in my personal history. Before completing my mental health nursing degree in 2015, I spent much of my life alongside the clients at The Gravers, the community my parents founded in 1982. This experience shaped my belief in genuine relationships, holistic, individualised support coproduced with the clients at every stage. My lifelong connection to people who require support to manage mental health challenges has led me to conclude that that no single paradigm of care fits all people. My approach values the unique personhood of each individual—their story, their wishes, and their aspirations whilst recognising idiosyncrasies that make us all different and the real life events that may have led someone to require the services we provide.
As Service Development Manager, I play a key role in upholding and enhancing the quality of care within our organisation. I support service managers in maintaining high standards, ensuring that our work aligns with our core ethos and values, ensuring our work remains person centred and innovative. Both clients and staff should feel empowered, heard and understood. My focus is on fostering environments where personal recovery, valued social roles and community are prioritised.
Beyond working with our teams and managers within Amitola, I engage external services and directly with individuals who may be struggling; offering guidance and advocacy to help navigate challenges. With a commitment to person-centered support, I strive to ensure that every service we provide not only meets expectations but genuinely transforms lives.
